Some
of
my
earliest
childhood
experiences
with
reptiles
and
amphibians
came
from
exploring
the
well
in
our
backyard
where
I
found
leopard
frogs,
bullfrogs,
eastern
tiger
salamanders,
and
occasional
water
snakes.
As
I
got
older
my
explorations
expanded
to
include
nearby
woods,
fields,
streams
or
any
place
that
I
could
walk
or
ride
a
bike.
Over
the
years
I
have
kept
a
large
variety
mammals,
birds,
reptiles
and
amphibians
including
many
that
were
were
rare
and
unusual.
In
spite
of
these
blessings
many
of
my
greatest
pleasures
come
from
some
of
the
most
common
animals.
Among
my
favorites
are
snapping
turtles,
toads,
and
rattlesnakes;
particularly
timbers,
easterns,
and
westerns. |
